Nepal's Home Minister Sudan Gurung has resigned following allegations of financial misconduct, dealing a blow to Prime Minister Balen Shah's government.
Gurung stepped down amid mounting criticism over his alleged business links and share transactions with a controversial businessman.
He said he had resigned to facilitate an impartial investigation into allegations related to his financial conduct and to avoid any conflict of interest while in office.
Gurung, who was appointed as Home Minister on March 27, was also a key figure in the Gen Z protests last year, where he was seen distributing bottled water to demonstrators.
His resignation comes just days after Prime Minister Shah dismissed Labour Minister Dip Kumar Sah on the recommendation of the ruling Rastriya Swatantra Party (RSP).
