Nepal's youngest prime minister, Balendra Shah, took the oath of office on Friday following his party's landslide victory in the March 5 polls.
Shah, a 35-year-old political outsider, will lead a government tasked with addressing public frustration with Nepal's established parties, who were blamed for corruption and chronic instability.
The swearing-in ceremony included Hindu rituals and religious chanting, with the timing seen as auspicious by Hindu priests based on astrological calculations.
Shah, a former rap artist and Kathmandu mayor, emerged as a prominent voice during the youth-led uprising in September that toppled the government.
