Israel's Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu has appeared to put an end to the recent 'Bibi is dead' rumours after sharing a video of himself getting a cup of coffee at a cafe in Jerusalem.
The video, which was later verified by Reuters, showed Netanyahu joking about the speculation on social media that he had died.
Netanyahu's office had earlier clarified that the Prime Minister was 'fine' after posts on social media claimed that he had been assassinated.
The speculation began circulating after US-Israeli strikes on Tehran led to the death of Iran's former supreme leader Ali Khamenei.
Claims began appearing on social media suggesting Iran could respond by targeting the Israeli prime minister, fuelling speculation that Netanyahu had been killed or badly injured in an Iranian strike.
However, the video shared by Netanyahu was later called '100% deepfake' by Grok, the X chatbot, further fuelling confusion over whether the video was genuine.
The Iran-US war has now entered its 17th day, with strikes by Israel and the United States inside Iran, along with Iran's retaliatory attacks on Israel and nearby Gulf states.
