Chef René Redzepi has announced his departure from Noma, the renowned Copenhagen restaurant, following allegations of abuse. In a statement on Instagram, Redzepi acknowledged responsibility for his actions and expressed confidence in the Noma team, which will continue to operate the restaurant during its LA residency.
Redzepi's resignation also includes his position as founder of the community-building nonprofit, MAD. The future of Noma's ownership remains unclear.
Potential replacements for Redzepi include Pablo Soto, Noma's Head Chef, and Peter Kreiner, CEO and co-owner, as well as other key team members such as Lau Richter, James Spreadbury, and Lena Hennessy.
The allegations of abuse, which include physical and verbal abuse, were made anonymously on Instagram and later detailed in a New York Times report. The report sparked outrage and led to key sponsors pulling out of the LA event.
