Republican lawmaker Chuck Edwards from North Carolina is being investigated for sexual misconduct with a former aide. The House Ethics Committee is probing Edwards over an alleged long-term affair with a former staffer who left office earlier this year.
Edwards, 65, has been married to his wife Teresa since 1980. The couple has a daughter, Kim, and a son, Chris, who tragically passed away due to suicide. Edwards has a sister, Jeannie, who lives in Haywood County and works in manufacturing.
Edwards' wife Teresa has been in the spotlight recently for banning a protester from all six of their McDonald's restaurants for leading a protest inside one of them with a marching band. Teresa is also Edwards' business partner.
Edwards has denied the allegations, stating that he welcomes any investigation and that the current political environment is to blame for the false accusations.
