A devastating tornado in western Oklahoma has claimed the lives of a mother and her daughter, who were traveling in a vehicle when the twister struck.

The tragedy occurred near State Highway 60 and 243 road, west of Fairview, Oklahoma, as a severe storm outbreak affected the Plains and Midwest.

Oklahoma Governor Kevin Stitt has offered condolences to the bereaved family, urging residents to stay weather aware and follow local guidance to ensure their safety.

Seven tornado reports were made across the region, including one in Grant County that uprooted trees, damaged power lines, and caused structural damage.

A minimum of four tornadoes made landfall in western Oklahoma, mainly affecting Grant and Alfalfa counties, resulting in damage and multiple storm chasers experiencing vehicle accidents in northwest Oklahoma.
