A massive wildfire has prompted an evacuation order for areas of La Pine in Oregon, with the Deschutes County Sheriff's Office issuing Level 3 and Level 1 evacuation notices for residents.

The Riverview fire, which started as a 10-acre blaze, has spread rapidly, prompting the sheriff's office to urge residents to leave immediately.

Those in the affected areas, including Timber Lane Loop, Riverview Drive, and homes along the Little Deschutes River, have been ordered to evacuate immediately, with emergency services warning that they may not be available to assist further.

A Level 1 evacuation notice has also been issued for the neighborhood north of Burgess, east of Huntington Road, and west of Hwy 97, with residents advised to be prepared to evacuate if conditions worsen.

The La Pine Activity Center has been established as a temporary evacuation point for those in need, located at 16450 Victory Way in La Pine.

The cause of the fire is not yet known, but several residents have speculated that it may have been started by someone burning during windy conditions.
