Pakistan is considering unfreezing fuel prices as the country struggles with the consequences of the ongoing US-Iran war. The fuel prices in Pakistan have surged significantly, with jet fuel and kerosene prices increasing by ₹84 and ₹71 per litre respectively.
According to local reports, the Pakistani government has allocated around ₹69 billion in subsidies to cushion the impact of price revisions. However, some officials have expressed concerns that the freeze on fuel prices may not be sustained for long.
The ongoing war between the US and Iran has had a significant impact on Pakistan, with the country's agricultural sector being severely affected. Senior Pakistani journalist Shams Kerio has warned that if negotiations between Iran and the US are not fruitful, it could lead to a huge loss and poverty will increase even more.
