Pakistan has emerged as the unlikely facilitator of US-Iran peace negotiations, with Field Marshal Asim Munir at the center of those efforts.

Munir, the country's army chief, has positioned himself as the most powerful man in Pakistan and is the favored interlocutor between Washington and Tehran.

US President Donald Trump praised Munir, saying he was a 'great guy' and his 'favorite field marshal,' and has even offered to visit Islamabad if a deal to end the war is reached.

Munir has held meetings with Iranian officials, including Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi and President Masoud Pezeshkian, and has played a key role in facilitating the negotiations.

Pakistan's central role in the peace talks has shone a spotlight on Munir and the unlikely personal trust he's earned from both sides.
