A former Pakistani minister has shed light on the country's current leadership dynamics, stating that Field Marshal Asim Munir is the de facto leader of Pakistan.

During an interview, Fawad Chaudhry said that Munir is spearheading the US-Iran mediation talks in Islamabad, with the decision-making power resting with him.

A Pakistani delegation is on its way to Iran to convey a message from the United States, with the possibility of a second round of talks between the two countries.

Iran's foreign ministry spokesman Esmaeil Baqaei confirmed that Tehran is likely to receive a Pakistani delegation as a continuation of discussions in Islamabad.

The US-Iran talks in Islamabad over the weekend failed to produce a decisive outcome, but President Donald Trump hinted that peace talks with Tehran could resume this week.
