At least 25 people were injured when seven coaches of a train derailed in Pakistan's Punjab province, officials said on Wednesday.
The incident occurred in Lodhran, about 400 kilometers from Lahore, late on Tuesday night.
Federal Minister for Railways Hanif Abbasi said human error and mechanical issues were likely causes of the derailment of the Tezgam Express in Lodhran.
The Karachi-bound Tezgam Express left Lahore Railway Station on Tuesday evening and derailed near Adam Wahan Railway Station on the Bahawalpur-Lodhran section at 9:30 pm.
Seven bogies derailed, with some passengers trapped inside. However, no casualties were reported.
The Punjab Emergency Department Rescue 1122 rescued the trapped passengers and shifted them to a nearby hospital.
A railways official said the derailment occurred when the couplers between the bogies broke away, dividing the train into two parts.
