Heavy police activity was seen in the West University neighborhood of Tucson, Arizona on Thursday, sparking speculation about the search for Nancy Guthrie, the 84-year-old mother of TODAY show host Savannah Guthrie.

The police activity, which included a helicopter and a K-9 unit, was initially thought to be related to the Nancy Guthrie case, but authorities later confirmed that it was actually a search for a suspect linked to a fight in the area.

The Pima County Sheriff's Department is leading the investigation into Guthrie's disappearance, which occurred on February 1. Guthrie's advanced age and underlying medical conditions, including high blood pressure and cardiac issues, have raised concerns about her safety and the need for prompt medical attention if she is found.

A retired FBI agent has suggested that Guthrie may have tried to fight off her kidnappers, based on the analysis of blood splatter on her porch, which authorities have confirmed belongs only to Guthrie.
