On Monday, the hip hop community made headlines after the arrest of rappers Pooh Shiesty and Big30 for allegedly kidnapping another rapper, Gucci Mane. Eight people, including Pooh Shiesty's father, were arrested in the investigation by the FBI.
The fresh charges mean Pooh Shiesty, who was released from prison just in October, and was on home confinement when the incident happened, will have to go back to jail. Big30, Shiesty's dad, Lontrell Williams, and the seven other coconspirators will face charges in the Northern District of Texas.
The arrests by the FBI were announced by the Department of Justice on Wednesday, saying that the FBI's multiple state forces as well as its Violent Crimes division, are “vigorously” investigating the allegations in the case.
Action News 7 of Memphis confirmed the Shiesty's father, once a rapper with the stage name ‘Mob Boss,’ was arrested from Cordova, in Shelby County, Tennessee.
The details of the case were disclosed by the Attorney General's Office of North Texas in a press conference. At the presser, the US Attorney Ryan Raybould of Texas elaborated on the incident, accusing the Shiesty and his associates of kidnapping and robbery.
“Instead of discussing business in a civil manner, the defendants resorted to violence and intimidation to achieve their purported business objectives,” Attorney Ryan Raybould said.
