US federal authorities have arrested Alexander Heifler, a 26-year-old man from Hoboken, New Jersey, for allegedly plotting to assassinate Palestinian-American activist Nerdeen Kiswani.

The plot, foiled through a coordinated undercover operation by the Federal Bureau of Investigation and the New York Police Department, involved Heifler requesting help with 'molotovs' during a group video call and later meeting with an undercover agent several times.

Heifler is accused of building Molotov cocktails, which were recovered during a raid, and allegedly targeted Kiswani's home, planning to throw multiple firebombs at the residence and nearby vehicles.

Heifler had an escape plan ready after the attack and discussed plans to flee the country shortly after carrying out the attack with the undercover agent.

He made a brief appearance in court and was given an order to be detained until he could file for bail in the future.
