Russia has condemned the killing of Iran's top leader Ali Larijani in an Israeli airstrike, calling it 'murdering' members of a sovereign nation.

Russia's Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Peskov said the country 'unequivocally condemns' any actions aimed at harming or eliminating leaders of other countries.

The statement comes as Iran launched fresh strikes against Israel and Gulf countries, with explosions reported in the UAE and Qatar and interceptions in Saudi Arabia.

The conflict has already killed over 2,300 people, including 13 US service members, and has closed the key Strait of Hormuz.
