Questions have emerged over the Secret Service's response to the White House Correspondents' Association Dinner shooting, with some claiming that Vice President JD Vance was escorted out before President Donald Trump.
A viral video shows attendees scrambling for cover and diving beneath tables after shots were heard shortly after the high-profile event began.
The annual dinner was attended by top Trump administration officials, including both Trump and Vance.
Federal investigators said that the shooter, Cole Tomas Allen, had allegedly planned to target Trump administration officials and had traveled cross-country by train before attempting to force his way into the ballroom.
Allen allegedly arrived armed with guns and knives and attempted to storm the ballroom, with Secret Service agents tackling him before he could reach attendees.
One officer was struck in a bullet-resistant vest and is expected to recover.
Officials believe Allen recently purchased the firearms used in the attack and say he has not cooperated with investigators.
