A GoFundMe has been launched to support a Mandarin High School student who suffered a brain trauma in an apparent accidental shooting. Mikah 'Vegas' Howell, 17, was injured on June 6 and is currently fighting for his life in intensive care.

Howell's mother, Jessica Mcphee, has shared updates on social media, describing her son as an 'academic and dedicated football player' with big dreams of attending the University of Central Florida and becoming a Civil Engineer.

The GoFundMe aims to raise $14,000 to help cover medical bills and living expenses for the family, who are facing an uncertain future.

Mcphee has urged everyone to 'hug their children and tell them how much they love them' and has also called for awareness on 'gun safety and gun education'.
