A devastating bus crash in west Tennessee on Friday resulted in the deaths of two students and injuries to at least seven others, according to officials.

The collision, involving a school bus, a dump truck, and a Chevrolet Trailblazer, occurred around noon on Highway 70 in Carroll County.

Tennessee Highway Patrol officials stated that the specifics of the crash are still being investigated, but it appears the dump truck did not cause the accident.

Responding to the tragedy, Maj. Travis Plotzer termed it 'a parent’s worst nightmare.'

The Clarksville-Montgomery County School System confirmed that the bus was carrying 25 students and five adults from Kenwood Middle School to Jackson, Tennessee, for a field trip.

At least seven others were admitted to hospitals in Tennessee, with four reported to be in stable condition at Monroe Carell Jr. Children’s Hospital at Vanderbilt.

The school's principal, Karen Miller, announced that counselors will be available beginning Monday to support students and families.

Tennessee Governor Bill Lee requested that residents pray for those affected by the bus accident.
