Tornado Warning Issued for Mauston, WI: Residents Urged to Seek Shelter Immediately

A tornado warning has been issued for Mauston, WI, with reports of a confirmed tornado on the ground near Union Center and Mauston. The National Weather Service announced a tornado warning until 6:00 PM CDT for Mauston, WI, Lemonweir WI, and Lindina WI. Juneau County Online confirmed the tornado, stating it was located near Elroy, moving east at 35 mph. Residents in the affected areas are urged to seek safety immediately and take cover in a basement or interior room, avoiding windows.

Power outages have also been reported across Juneau County, with 949 homes and businesses without power, affecting 5.33 percent of the total customers. The severe thunderstorm capable of producing a tornado was located over Hillsboro, moving east at 35 mph, and can produce half-dollar size hail and flying debris. Meteorologists recommend people in the Mauston area to take cover, and other locations impacted by the tornadic thunderstorm include Lindina, Seven Mile Creek, Union Center, Bass Hollow Rec Area, Pleasant Ridge, and Mullin Ridge.
