A tornado warning was issued for Wichita Falls in Texas on Sunday, prompting warnings from local meteorologists and scary videos of the storm emerging on social media.
According to the National Weather Service, a tornado watch had been issued for parts of western north Texas and southwestern Oklahoma, but the situation quickly escalated to a tornado warning.
A local meteorologist warned residents to seek shelter, saying "This is radar indicated rotation so far but it rapidly maturing and rotating. This is not the time to watch on your porch, start getting in your safe space!"
Residents shared videos and photos of the storm on social media, with some reporting hail and others expressing concerns about the warning system.
One person complained that the city was slow to activate sirens, saying "NWS issued a tornado warning a solid 10 minutes before the city activated the sirens..... City of Wichita Falls, Texas Government, do better."
