US President Donald Trump has called on Tehran to release eight women protestors who are on death row in Iran. The women, including two 16-year-old girls, were arrested during the Iranian government's crackdown on anti-regime protests in January.
The US President made the appeal on social media, urging Iran to release the women in order to aid in ongoing negotiations to bring an end to the war.
Tehran has denied the claims, stating that the women have either been released or face charges that would result in imprisonment, not execution.
The eight women, identified as Bita Hemmati, Mahboubeh Shabani, Diana Taherabadi, Venus Hosseininejad, Golnaz Naraghi, Ghazal Ghalandari, Panah Movahedi, and Ensieh Nejati, were arrested for participating in anti-regime protests.
