Following a shooting incident at the White House Correspondents' Association Dinner in Washington, D.C. on Saturday night, President Donald Trump and First Lady Melania Trump were evacuated from the scene.
According to CNN, the shooter has been confirmed dead, and neither the President nor Vice President J.D. Vance was injured.
Trump took to Truth Social to praise the Secret Service and Law Enforcement for their quick handling of the situation and neutralizing the shooter.
Witnesses described the atmosphere abruptly changing as security personnel rushed to remove the President and First Lady, with hundreds of attendees hiding under tables.
The U.S. Attorney Jeanine Pirro shared a video from the hotel, stating that the Secret Service is now in charge of the building and that the Mayor and Police Chief are on their way.
The dinner will resume shortly, with the President of the White House Correspondents' Association announcing that "Our program is going to resume momentarily."
