US President Donald Trump was quickly evacuated from the Washington Hilton during the White House Correspondents' Dinner after reports of gunshots broke out. A video shows Trump being escorted away by Secret Service members as loud bangs can be heard in the background. Several senior government officials, including Stephen Miller and Pete Hegseth, were also escorted out of the venue.
According to Jeanine Ferris Pirro, U.S. Attorney for the District of Columbia, the Secret Service is now in charge of the building, and Mayor Muriel Bowser and Chief Jeffrey Carroll are on their way to the scene. Trump has praised the Secret Service and law enforcement for doing a 'fantastic job' in apprehending the shooter.
