Amid simmering Middle East tensions, President Donald Trump praised Israel as a 'great ally' and 'courageous, bold and smart', taking a veiled swipe at NATO countries.
Trump's praise comes as Israel-Lebanon ceasefire remains in tatters, with Israel launching fresh strikes on what it described as threats south of the new 'yellow line' in Lebanon.
Trump's comments also come amid uncertainty over Iran-US truce, with Iran briefly reopening the Strait of Hormuz before shutting it again citing US naval blockade.
Israel asked the White House for clarifications about Trump's post, which 'contradicted' the text of the ceasefire deal between Israel and Lebanon.
