The White House has revealed that Iran's original 10-point ceasefire proposal was outright rejected by President Trump's team.

Press Secretary Karoline Leavitt stated that the current proposal under discussion differs significantly from Tehran's initial plan, calling it 'fundamentally unserious, unacceptable, and completely discarded.'

Leavitt added that the original proposal was 'literally thrown in the garbage' by President Trump and his negotiating team.

The US and Iran agreed to a two-week ceasefire after over 38 days of fighting, with the first round of negotiations scheduled to take place in Islamabad on Saturday.

However, key details remain unresolved, including the fate of Iran's missile and nuclear programmes, and maritime rules in the Strait of Hormuz.

The situation on the ground remains volatile, with Israel intensifying its offensive against Hezbollah in Lebanon, raising concerns about the scope of the ceasefire.
