US President Donald Trump took a swipe at Iran after the country announced it was closing the Strait of Hormuz, just a day after its opening was announced.

Trump maintained that talks were still ongoing and accused Iran of trying to blackmail the US, saying 'they can't blackmail us.'

The closure was announced by Iran, citing the US's naval blockade of Iranian ports, and the IRGC Navy warned vessels against approaching the chokepoint, directing them to remain at the anchorage in the Persian Gulf.

The Strait of Hormuz is one of the two sticking points in the peace talks, the other being Iran's stockpile of near-weapons-grade enriched uranium.
