US President Donald Trump has issued a warning to Iran, stating that if they don't open the Strait of Hormuz within 48 hours, the US will 'hit and obliterate' their power plants.

The threat comes as oil prices have soared due to Iran's threats to shipping on the Strait of Hormuz, a vital passageway through which one-fifth of the world's oil supply travels.

Trump's comments follow a recent announcement by the Trump administration to temporarily lift sanctions on Iranian oil that was already loaded on ships, which is expected to bring 140 million barrels of oil to global markets.

The conflict between the US, Israel, and Iran has escalated, with Israeli officials claiming that Iranian forces have fired long-range missiles for the first time, expanding the risk of attacks beyond the Middle East.
