A British flight attendant could face up to two years in a UAE jail cell for sharing a video of a drone strike at Dubai airport on a private WhatsApp group.
The 25-year-old airline crew member was arrested on March 7 after posting the video out of fear, asking if it was safe to walk through the airport.
According to reports, the UAE has detained around 160 people for similar offences since the war began, with two other British nationals also being held for sharing images and videos of incident sites.
The UAE has strict cybercrime laws, warning citizens and visitors that photographing, filming, publishing or circulating images and videos of incident sites could lead to a minimum of one year in prison and fines starting at £20,000.
Radha Stirling, CEO of Detained in Dubai, has stated that lawyers in the UAE refuse to get involved in cases related to national security, making it difficult for citizens to get legal representation.
Since the war began, the UAE has been facing daily missile and drone attacks launched from Iran, with 10 civilians losing their lives and 217 people injured.
