The UK government has launched the Queen Elizabeth Trust, a new charity that aims to bring communities together across the country.

The charity, formally launched on Tuesday, marks the birth centenary of the late Queen Elizabeth II and has received a one-off government endowment of 40 million pounds.

King Charles III will serve as the Royal Patron of the charity, which will focus on transforming underused buildings and green spaces, as well as neighbourhood hubs, to create shared spaces where people can meet and connect.

The charity's goal is to significantly increase its impact by attracting support from others and providing communities with access to skills and training to deliver local events.

The Queen Elizabeth Trust is one of three related projects in memory of Queen Elizabeth II, who died in 2022.
