The UK's terror threat level has been raised to 'severe' following a recent antisemitic stabbing in north-west London.
The Joint Terrorism Analysis Centre stated that the threat had been rising for some time, driven by Islamist and extreme right-wing terrorist threats from individuals and small groups based in the UK.
UK Home Secretary Shabana Mahmood announced a significant increase in investment to protect Jewish communities, with record funding for policing and security at synagogues, schools, and community centres.
The terror threat level had been at 'substantial', but has now been raised further, with 'severe' indicating a terrorist attack is highly likely.
A 45-year-old Somalia-born British male suspect remains in custody following the arrest at the scene of the stabbing, which targeted two Jewish men aged 76 and 34.
