The US Air Force is upgrading its A-10 fighter jets with refueling adapters to improve the fleet's capabilities and extend its operational range.

The A-10, also known as the Warthog, has been instrumental in US operations against Iran, including the rescue of an F-15E pilot.

The refueling adapters will enable the A-10 to receive fuel from US jets like the KC-135s and KC-46s, rather than relying on the Boeing KC-135.

The upgrade will also allow the A-10 to conduct future operations over the Pacific with improved tactical power.

A test flight equipped with the refueling probe was conducted earlier this month, and the adapters can be installed or removed within a few hours by flight line personnel.
