US economist Jeffrey Sachs has warned that major UAE cities, including Dubai and Abu Dhabi, could be at risk of being bombed if the UAE enters the ongoing war with Iran.

Sachs, a top American economist, stated that Dubai and Abu Dhabi are not military zones but major tourist destinations where wealthy visitors come to relax and enjoy themselves.

He added that entering the war could make these cities targets of attacks, defeating the entire purpose of a place like Dubai, which is a resort area and tourist destination.

Sachs also criticized the UAE's decision to sign the Abraham Accords and become a partner to the US, terming it as a 'fundamental miscalculation'.

He advised the UAE to focus on protecting themselves rather than being dependent on the US to provide security from foreign threats.

Iran has repeatedly warned West Asian countries against allowing the US to use military bases on their soil to launch attacks, stating that any country hosting such bases could face consequences if those facilities are used against Iran.
