As the fighting in the Middle East entered its fourth day, US facilities were targeted in a series of drone attacks across the region on March 3. The attacks affected areas in Bahrain, Riyadh, and Erbil, with reports of damage to US military bases and embassies.
In Riyadh, Saudi Arabia, the US embassy was hit by two drones, resulting in a limited fire and material damage. A loud blast was heard, and flames were seen at the embassy.
A US military base near Erbil Airport in Iraq was also targeted, while a drone attack destroyed the main command building of a US air base in Bahrain, according to reports.
The US State Department has directed all non-emergency personnel to leave Bahrain, Jordan, and Iraq, and has updated travel advisories for Bahrain and Jordan to reflect the ordered departure of non-emergency US government personnel and family members.
US military bases in the Middle East include Bahrain, Qatar, Kuwait, the United Arab Emirates, Jordan, Saudi Arabia, and Iraq.
