The US embassy in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia, was hit in a drone attack on Tuesday, March 3, with reports of a fire and a blast on the embassy compound.

The US Embassy in Saudi Arabia advised Americans to 'avoid the Embassy until further notice due to an attack on the facility.'

According to the Wall Street Journal, the embassy was 'struck by two UAVs that hit the roof and the perimeter of the chancery.'

CNN reported that the drones were 'suspected Iranian drones,' but no group has taken responsibility for the attack.

Videos of the attack were shared on social media, and the Saudi Defense Ministry confirmed that the attack involved two drones, causing a 'limited fire' with 'minor damages.'

This marks the latest in a series of attacks on US and Gulf energy sites, following the US-Israeli strikes that killed Ayatollah Ali Khamenei.
