Just days after a deadly Israeli attack on Lebanon, both countries will engage in talks in the United States next week, according to a US official.

The talks will be hosted by the US' State Department and come after a two-week truce struck between Iran and the United States, which did not include Lebanon due to Hezbollah.

Israeli Prime Minister Netanyahu has approved direct talks with Lebanon, which will focus on disarming Hezbollah, but the militia has rejected any direct negotiations.

Hezbollah lawmaker Ali Fayyad called on the government of Lebanon to adhere to the ceasefire as a precondition before proceeding with any further steps.

Meanwhile, Israel continues to attack what it claims are Hezbollah-linked sites across Lebanon, despite Netanyahu's call for direct talks.

US President Donald Trump expressed hope for the upcoming peace talks with Iran, claiming that the Iranians are more reasonable in private conversations.
