US Vice President JD Vance stated that the mistrust between Washington and Tehran cannot be resolved overnight, following the failed peace talks in Pakistan over the weekend.

Vance, the lead negotiator for the US delegation, noted that the negotiation in Islamabad was a historic meeting between the two nations in nearly five decades.

Although the Iranian negotiators wanted to make a deal, Vance acknowledged that the mistrust between the two sides is significant and cannot be resolved quickly.

Despite the failed talks, US President Donald Trump hinted that a fresh round of talks could resume later this week in Pakistan.

Meanwhile, Trump announced a blockade of all Iranian ports by US naval forces, which has halted economic trade into and out of Iran by sea.
