The Strait of Hormuz has emerged as a major point of contention during US-Iran peace talks in Pakistan, with Iran accusing the US of making 'excessive demands.'

A Pakistani official said the talks were 'progressing in the right direction' after two rounds, but Iranian state TV reported that both sides did not reach an understanding on their differences.

US President Donald Trump claimed that 28 of Iran's mine dropper boats were 'lying at the bottom of the sea' and that the US was starting the 'process of clearing out the Strait of Hormuz' as a favor to countries around the world.

Hours later, Trump made another post saying that the Strait of Hormuz 'will soon be open' and that empty oil-carrying ships from many nations were rushing to the US to 'load up'.
