The US and Iran have announced plans to resume peace talks, with a delegation led by US President Donald Trump's son-in-law Jared Kushner set to meet with Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi in Islamabad this weekend.
US Special Envoy Steve Witkoff will also participate in the talks, while Vice President JD Vance will remain on standby to travel if necessary.
Araghchi is traveling to Pakistan as part of a tour of several countries, including Oman and Russia, to coordinate on bilateral matters and consult on regional developments.
The first round of talks between the US and Iran was held on April 11-12, but failed to produce a breakthrough.
Trump extended the two-week ceasefire with Iran indefinitely to give Tehran more time to prepare a unified proposal to end the war.
