An Indian-American student, 21-year-old Savitha Shan, was among the victims of a mass shooting at a bar in Austin, Texas, on Sunday.

The Austin Police Department identified the other victim as 19-year-old Ryder Harrington, and the shooter as 53-year-old Ndiaga Diagne, who was gunned down by police.

Diagne's clothes had an Iranian flag design and the words 'Property of Allah,' according to reports.

The shooting is being investigated as an act of terrorism amid a fresh flare-up between the US and Iran.

A university professor mourned the loss of Savitha Shan, describing her as 'one of the superstar students' at the university.

The area where the incident took place was considered safe by students, but several college students were present at the scene.
