Billions of dollars' worth of advanced military equipment has been lost or severely damaged since the US and Israel launched strikes against Iran over three weeks ago.
The majority of the damage on the ground has been caused by Iranian ballistic missiles and drones.
According to Elaine McCusker, a top Pentagon budget official, the cost of replacing losses over the first three weeks of the war is estimated to be between $1.4 billion and $2.9 billion.
The Pentagon plans to replace damaged or lost equipment, including a Kuwaiti F/A-18 Hornet jet fighter, a US F-35A Lightning II stealth fighter, and six Air Force KC-135 Stratotanker aerial refuelers.
Additionally, over a dozen MQ-9 Reaper drones have been lost since the war began, including at least eight shot down by Iranian missiles.
A fire broke out on the USS Gerald R. Ford aircraft carrier, and Iran has attacked radar, communications, and air defense systems in several countries.
