Tensions in West Asia continue to escalate as the United States enforces a naval blockade in the Strait of Hormuz. On Wednesday, a guided-missile destroyer USS Spruance (DDG 111) intercepted an Iranian-flagged cargo ship attempting to navigate out of the strait.

The ship, which had departed from Bandar Abbas and was moving along Iran's coastline, tried to evade the US blockade. However, the US Navy intervened, redirecting the vessel back to Iran.

This is the 10th ship to be forced to turn back since the naval blockade began, with none managing to break through.

Iran has warned of 'dangerous consequences' against the US blockade, with Foreign Minister Seyyed Abbas Araghchi cautioning that recent US moves risk worsening the situation in the region.
