The US Central Command has released footage showing the US Navy enforcing a blockade on Iranian ports by diverting a merchant vessel.

US forces remain fully prepared to maintain the blockade for as long as necessary, involving over 10,000 personnel, a dozen naval vessels, and 100 aircraft.

The blockade, which went into effect on Monday, has seen at least eight ships, including three Iran-linked tankers, cross the strategic waterway in the Strait of Hormuz.

Washington and Iran are currently abiding by a two-week ceasefire, with reports suggesting they may extend it to create more time for negotiating a broader peace deal.
