Joe Kent, the former US National Counterterrorism Center Director, is reportedly facing an FBI investigation over allegations of leaking classified information.

The investigation, which pre-dates Kent's resignation on Tuesday, is focused on allegations that he improperly shared classified information, according to Semafor, citing four people with direct knowledge of the investigation.

Kent made headlines on Wednesday by sharing an inside scoop on the US-Iran war, claiming that Israel forced Trump's hand in striking Iran despite no evidence of an imminent threat.

Speaking on Tucker Carlson's show, Kent said that a small circle of advisers made the decision to strike Iran, and that Israel's lobbying efforts, including those of Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu, played a significant role in the decision.

Kent's claims have drawn criticism from Jewish groups and others who accused him of antisemitism.
