US Senator Lindsey Graham has warned Saudi Arabia that it must take action against Iran or face the consequences, amid ongoing tensions between the US, Israel, and Iran.
Graham, a close ally of former President Trump, questioned whether the US should proceed with its defense agreement with Saudi Arabia, citing a report by the New York Times that the US embassy in Saudi Arabia is being evacuated due to recent Iranian drone attacks.
The Republican Senator expressed frustration with Saudi Arabia's lack of involvement in the fight against Iran, stating that Americans are dying and the US is spending billions to dislodge the 'terrorist Iranian regime.'
Graham also mentioned the $142 billion defense cooperation agreement signed between the US and Saudi Arabia in May 2025, which includes a $600 billion investment in the US in exchange for state-of-the-art war equipment, including F-35 fighter jets.
Last week, the US embassy in Riyadh was subject to drone attacks from Iran, prompting the US State Department to evacuate all staff from the embassy offices until further notice.
Saudi Arabia has condemned the strikes and stated that it retains its full right to take all necessary measures to safeguard its security, sovereignty, and the safety of its citizens.
