The mother of American live streamer Johnny Somali has appealed to the South Korean court to show leniency in her son's sentencing, scheduled for April 15, 2026.

Somali, whose real name is Ramsey Khalid Ismael, is facing several charges, including interference of business, violating the Minor Crimes Act, and sexual violence crimes.

The charges stem from a stream in which Somali played offensive noises on the subway and performed a lap dance on a memorial commemorating Korea's World War II sex slaves.

The prosecutor is seeking three years in prison with labor, a fine of approximately ₩150,000 (roughly $100), and registration as a sex offender.

Somali has apologized for his actions, stating that he did not realize the consequences of his actions in Korea, as they would not be illegal in the United States.
