Utah Man Detained, Neighborhood Evacuated After Explosives Discovery

Residents in West Bountiful, Utah, are being evacuated due to the presence of explosives in a neighborhood. A temporary shelter has been set up at the city park for those affected.

A man, 80-year-old Dwayne Raymond Hughes, has been taken into custody for possession of explosives, unlawful possession of fireworks, and reckless endangerment.

According to authorities, Hughes had dynamite stored near a 2500-gallon diesel fuel tank at his residence, which was discovered during a domestic violence investigation.

The evacuation order will remain in effect until 10 a.m. and residents are advised to bring their medications and essential items.
