Chinese President Xi Jinping has urged respect for the sovereignty, security, and territorial integrity of countries in the West Asia and Gulf region. He emphasized the importance of safeguarding the safety of personnel, facilities, and institutions of all countries.

Xi made these comments during a meeting with the visiting Crown Prince of Abu Dhabi, Sheikh Khaled bin Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan. He advocated for a common, comprehensive, cooperative, and sustainable security architecture for the region.

The Chinese President also stressed the need to uphold the principle of international rule of law to prevent the world from falling back into a 'law of the jungle.' He called for coordination between development and security, and for all parties to work together to create a favorable environment for the development of countries in the region.

This is the first time Xi has commented on the current conflict between the US, Israel, and Iran, which has affected several Gulf countries, including the UAE. China has been critical of US attacks on Iran and has been calling for a cessation of hostilities.

China has also called for unimpeded passage through the Strait of Hormuz, an important international trade route for goods and energy. The Chinese Foreign Ministry spokesperson emphasized the need for all parties to remain calm and exercise restraint to resolve the issue.
