A 13-year-old girl from Raichur district in India died after receiving treatment from a man posing as a registered medical practitioner despite not being a qualified doctor. The girl had developed a fever and was taken to the unqualified practitioner, Uttam Kumar Sarkar, by her grandmother.
Sarkar administered an injection as part of the treatment, but the girl's condition worsened, and she was later taken to a hospital where she was declared dead.
The police have registered a case against Sarkar under Section 304(a) of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita, which deals with causing death by negligence.
The girl's parents alleged that the treatment provided by Sarkar led to her death, and the district health officer confirmed that Sarkar was not authorized to practice medicine.
