Thiruvananthapuram, Monalisa Bhonsle, the young woman who shot to fame during the Prayagraj Kumbh Mela last year, has responded to reports of her being underage. Bhonsle, who married a man of her choice in Kerala, said that the reports were 'fake and incorrect.'
'I am 18-years-old,' Bhonsle told reporters. Her husband also stated that their registered marriage would not have been possible if she was underage.
The couple got married at the Nainar Temple in Arumanoor, Poovar, in the presence of Kerala General Education Minister V Sivankutty and other prominent leaders. Bhonsle had previously stated that her family did not approve of their relationship and had pressured her to marry another person.
The couple had arrived in Poovar recently for a film shoot, where they met and fell in love six months ago. Bhonsle said that she likes Kerala and wants to stay in the state, while her husband stated that their future plans depend on her wishes.
