Two Indian nationals onboard the hantavirus-linked ship MV Hondius are asymptomatic and healthy, the Indian embassy in Spain said on Sunday.

The two crew members were evacuated to the Netherlands and will be quarantined under the health safety protocol, the embassy stated in a statement.

The Indian Ambassador is in close contact with the Spanish authorities and regularly monitors the situation to ensure the well-being and safety of the Indian nationals.

Meanwhile, France has reported that one of five French passengers on the cruise ship showed symptoms during a repatriation flight on Sunday.

These passengers have been placed in strict isolation and are receiving medical treatment, with tests and a medical check-up scheduled.

The first group of passengers of the cruise ship hit by the hantavirus outbreak began disembarking into small boats on Sunday, following the evacuation process.

The Dutch-flagged MV Hondius arrived at the small industrial port of Granadilla on Tenerife early on Sunday, after an outbreak of Hantavirus was reported.

The Spanish health ministry has stated that no more than 140 people on the Hondius have shown symptoms of the virus.

WHO Director-General Tedros Adhanom Ghebreyesus reiterated that the general public should not be worried about the outbreak, stating that the risk to the public is low.
